The Hospital Bienfaisance of Pignon, Haiti has served the Northern Plateau of Haiti since 1981 at the direction of Dr. Guy Theodore, the mission founder.  Since the inception of the hospital, there has been a need for the children to have a wing dedicated to their healthcare.  Currently, children are placed in wards with adults and there is a very small nursery for infants.  With the construction of the pediatric wing and supply of medical equipment, we will be able to provide a dedicated and safe space for the children in the hospital.  We are absolutely grateful for your participation and support!

Travel Notice

To the Supporters and Missionary Travelers of Promise for Haiti,

Grace & Peace be with you.  Please remember to keep the mission in Haiti and our Haitian sisters and brothers in your daily prayers as evil continues to consume the landscape and as the mission in Pignon is now struggling to maintain operations.

The Board of Promise for Haiti recently met and decided the current political climate in Haiti and scarcity of resources for the mission has put travel to the mission in jeopardy for multiple reasons.  The roads in Haiti and in major metropolitan areas are not safe as gang activity and kidnappings are increasing, including violence at other local hospitals within our region.  As a result of the shortage of fuel, the mission is struggling to keep electrical power which is critical for emergency medical and surgical care, and the ability to pump drinkable water.  Commerce is slowing and inflation skyrocketing due to the lack of food and goods.  Times are dire.

Until the situation in the country has stabilized, all travel to Haiti and the mission in Pignon through Promise for Haiti is not advised and will be halted until further notice for travelers protection, and to preserve what little resources the mission has on hand.

Current operations would not be possible if not for the continued generous support of many of you and the work done over the years to keep the mission sustainable.  The ability to remain open is a credit to the dedication of our Haitian partners who fully run and operate the 9 schools, hospital and clinic, farm, health insurance program, and spiritual education programs.

We continue to be grateful for your support and prayers.  As the year comes to an end, please be mindful to help us with a contribution if you are able to help us get through this very difficult time!  We rely on your prayers and generosity to continue to provide the best healthcare and education possible in Haiti.  We remain faithful that the Lord will provide for the needs of the mission!

May God Bless you!

I was born in Venice, FL, and grew up in Little Rock, AR.  At the age of 12, I made my first public profession of faith in Jesus Christ at Trinity United Methodist Church Little Rock, AR, a church that taught me by both precept and example the importance of Christian mission.  I received my B.A. from Asbury College in 2008 and Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2012.  I returned to Arkansas in 2012 and have been serving in full-time pastoral ministry ever since.  My wife' name is Emily, and we've been married for 14 years.  We have four children: Andrew (12), Abigail (10), Aiden (6), Allyson (3).  I first traveled to Haiti with Bubba back in 2003, at which time I got to celebrate my 18th birthday in Pignon and eat goat in lieu of turkey for Thanksgiving!  My grandparents were actively involved in Haiti missions going back many years.  My Grandfather, John, first traveled to Pignon in the early 90s on a trip to install water systems at the Hospital Bienfaisance.  To be able to serve alongside you in this capacity is an opportunity to carry on my family's legacy of serving the wonderful people of Haiti.  This is a tremendous honor, and I look forward to getting to know you as we work to serve all people in Central Haiti in the name of Jesus Christ. - David
