Ways to Serve

Medical Missions with Promise for Haiti
Promise for Haiti supports Hospital Bienfaisance and its network of clinics, health agents, a cholera clinic, and a maternity house by providing resources, volunteers, and medical training for Haitian healthcare staff.
The hospital features two air-conditioned operating rooms with telemedicine capabilities for teaching. Visiting medical teams serve year-round in specialties such as general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedics, urology, ENT, and cardiology (including pacemaker implants). A new primary care program is expanding access to routine care in rural communities.
We also operate a strong dental program, serving the local population and all elementary students annually.
Additional specialties and training teams, including nursing education, are welcome. Teams are encouraged to bring surgical supplies and help offset fuel and staffing costs during their stay.

Supporting Education in Pignon
Education plays a key role in shaping the future of Pignon and Haiti. Promise for Haiti supports nine elementary schools, helping over 2,000 students every year. Since all schools in Haiti—public or private—require tuition, support of donors is crucial for students to receive the education they need to succeed.
We follow a Christian curriculum, preparing students well for their next steps in education.
Mission teams often visit to work alongside our educators during school breaks, helping improve teaching methods or taking part in fun, hands-on projects with the students.

Evangelism & Spiritual Support
As a non-denominational Christian mission, Promise for Haiti is committed to supporting the work of local churches in Pignon, regardless of denomination. We have constructed a chapel on the hospital grounds, offering a serene space for families to pray and reflect during their loved ones’ time at the hospital.
Mission teams are welcome to serve in various capacities, including offering prayers for patients and families, visiting rural communities supported through health development accounts, and addressing the spiritual needs of individuals in these areas. Additionally, teams may minister to the sick at Hospital Bienfaisance or collaborate with local churches to provide teaching and support to both clergy and lay members.

Work Projects in Pignon
Promise for Haiti supports a variety of projects in and around Pignon, focusing on the Hospital Bienfaisance, the 190-acre farm, water projects, and the education system. Teams engage in a range of construction and maintenance tasks, from building and painting to general upkeep of our facilities.
