A typical trip lasts for roughly a week and can take many shapes and forms. From working in the Hospital Bienfaisance, hosting a Vacation Bible School, or working at our schools, a trip can open your team’s eyes to a new culture and give the opportunity to serve our neighbors in Haiti!

Ways to Serve

Healthcare

Promise for Haiti supports the Hospital Bienfaisance and system of clinics, health agents, cholera clinic and maternity house by providing resources and volunteers to provide health care and also teach Haitian physicians, nurses and staff.

We have two full time air conditioned operating rooms which have capabilities for telemedicine for teaching.  Various specialties currently participate in medial teams which come throughout the year.  Some specialties include general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedics, urology, otolaryngology, & cardiology (pacemaker implants).  We are currently launching a primary care program to help see patients over the year for basic needs in the outlying villages and at the Hospital Bienfaisance.

We also support a robust dentistry program which treats patients in the community and all of our elementary students annually.

We welcome other specialties and opportunities for training including Nursing training.  Teams are encouraged to bring operating supplies and funding for overages on fuel needs and staffing needs during time spent in Pignon.
If you have interest in serving at the hospital please contact us and give a description of your abilities or desire to serve.   You can email travel coordinator for more information.

Education

Education is crucial to the future of Pignon and Haiti.  Promise for Haiti supports nine elementary schools and over 2000 students annually.  The children rely on the support of donors to help them get the education they need to succeed.   All schools, public or private in Haiti require tuition at every level.  We support a Christian curriculum and prepare our children well for the next level of schooling.  Some mission groups come to work with our educators during school breaks to work on methods of education, while others may do “hands-on” projects with the school children.  If you or a team have interest in serving please contact the Travel Coordinator with questions or mission ideas.

Evangelism

We are a non-demoninational Christian mission and support the work of the local churches in Pignon of all faiths.  We have completed construction of a chapel on the hospital grounds for family’s to pray and reflect quietly for friends and family in the hospital.

Many teams come to serve in a variety of ways including praying with patients and families.  Teams visit our families supported through the health development accounts in the rural areas and support their spiritual needs.  Groups have come to minister to the sick in the Hospital Bienfaisance.  Others will work in local churches in a variety of ways to teach and minister to the clergy and lay people of the church.
If you have a group which would like to serve in this manner please contact our Travel Coordinator for questions and to provide details of your group and the mission work you would like to pursue.
