With all the latest news in Haiti pertaining to the devastating hurricane, families who once called their home the fortress they made with sheets of tin and a canopy, are struggling to stay together, to survive and to help others. The mission run by Promise for Haiti is located in the Central mountainous region and this already impoverished area was spared the immense devastation. However, the daily needs for the people remain. A sustainable effort to feed, provide health care is crucial throughout Haiti.
Promise for Haiti has proudly been working in Haiti for over 35 years and an average of 94% of funds raised, go directly to the programs benefitting the Haitian children and families.
What can you do? Raise awareness and take action to help Haiti.
Nayda and Naydoline are 10 year old twins who attend Sonshine Christian School in Savanette, Haiti. Sponsors have provided these girls and others the opportunity to get an education, a meal and hope for a future. Promise For Haiti has partnered with H.E.L.P., to operate 9 primary schools with its own water well serving over 2,000 students annually. Sponsor a child's education and demonstrate the value you place on helping others as a family, a school class, church group, or business.
As a Health Partner, your donation provides needed healthcare for a family for an entire year through the Health Development Account (or HDA). The Haitian families enrolled in the program also contribute $1 to $20 toward the account annually. Their contribution provides a sense of integrity in being a part of the solution and taking control of their own healthy futures. Sponsors receive bi-annual reports on the family's progress.
Have you found yourself saying, "I would love to help, but I can't afford to donate right now" -- you could help organize a fundraising event, or raise funds at your company, your school, your neighborhood or with something you are already doing! Consider a drive or event to raise awareness for the desperate needs in Haiti. Rally your school classrooms, church and local businesses to get involved.
