Hopital Bienfaisance becomes Trauma Center
As one of the few functioning hospitals in Haiti, the Hopital Bienfaisance in Pignon is working as a
regional Trauma Center. Hundreds of patients have been seen and treated and numerous
complex surgeries have taken place. Because of the large number of cases and the many hours
needed in surgery, there have been times when the operating rooms have been active for
24-hours straight. The additional personnel support from the US teams has been a much needed blessing.
Individuals have been making their way to the hospital via many other cities and hospitals. Patients are
arriving from as far as Jacmel, Port-au-Prince, Leogane, Ouananminthe, La Gonave, and St. Michel.
We have sent a truck 50 miles to the borders in Ouananminthe to help transport patients
to Pignon. (see map) MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) is now airlifting patients from Port-au-Prince
to the Pignon Hospital. We are waiting for a helicopter to start bringing patients from
Jacmel, which is totally overwhelmed with injuries.
We Need Your Help
We need your help to bring healing and comfort to these people and their families.
We can not turn them away.
Currently millions of dollars have been donated through the Red Cross and other national agencies, but this
money does not reach the hospital or assist in caring for these patients. We need your direct support.
We will make every effort to these individuals the best we can with medical care, medicines, food and shelter.
Please take a moment and go to our donation page and give generously to allow us to fulfill our mission.
The money you give will purchase much needed supplies, food and other resources that will go quickly to those in need.

Earthquake Devastates Haiti but Pignon is Spared.
On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 earthquake struck the island country of Haiti.
The epicenter was located near the capital city of Port-au-Prince. The city was nearly leveled and
the casualty count is rising into the hundreds of thousands. The disaster is unlike anything experienced in our lifetime.
Promise for Haiti serves an area in the Central Plateau region about 80 miles north of Port-au-Prince.
While the earthquake was definitely felt, no buildings were damaged and there were thankfully no injuries.
But this does not mean the area was unaffected.
Nearly every family in the Pignon area has friends and relatives who lived in the earthquake area.
Many have lost loved ones and many more are still waiting for any news.
Food and other resources are quickly becoming scarce as the main shipping port for Haiti is damaged and closed.
The Hospital is Operational
The Hospital Bienfaisance is one of the few hospitals in Haiti still standing and operational.
Victims of the earthquake have rapidly been finding their way the 80 grueling miles north seeking treatment and relief.
This is putting a tremendous strain on the hospital's already limited resources.
