VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT

The mission's development plan looks for volunteers/teams for projects identified by Hopital Bienfaisance de Pignon. We depend on an individual’s ability and willingness to contribute talent and resources in order to best achieve the goals of each Mission Team as visioned by CBP/HBP/Promise for Haiti.

We strive to be 'good guests' as we collaborate with the people of Pignon to develop their capacity for quality healthcare, education, economic and agricultural progress. We commit to listening to our Haitian hosts - to better understand their challenges, as we strive to help forge self-sustaining solutions as well as life long relationships.

SAFETY TIPS

We encourage volunteers to become involved in as many aspects of the mission as they can. Certain precautionary measures are provided below to help protect your safety as individuals and to maintain the integrity of the projects you will undertake.
Please observe the following:

      • Travel to Pignon through designated routes / carriers / transports.

      • Travel to and from Pignon Airfield with the designated drivers.

      • Go directly to the assigned facility (Hospital Dorm / housing facility)
      • Remain within the compounds and perform activities as a group.
      • Use the “buddy system”: let someone know your whereabouts at all times.
      • DO NOT invite or allow guests to gather in/and around the compounds.
      • AVOID distributing gifts or cash to individuals to discourage beggars.
      • Select students ONLY from the pre-approved list at the administration.
      • ONLY use interpreters that have been screened by the administration.
      • ONLY use workers/ personnel designated as such by the administration.

Each volunteer helps keep HBP one of the finest and most efficient modern development centers in the Caribbean through systems that have proven to work. Both for safety and efficiency purposes, everyone is asked to adhere to the guidelines set forth for volunteers.
